Big Sandy Rancheria Band of Western Mono Indians Releases Draft Environmental Document for Proposed Casino/Resort for Public Comment and Review
Comment Period Extended
Fresno County, Calif., Mar. 14, 2011—The Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) and the Big Sandy Rancheria Band of Western Mono Indians (Tribe) filed a Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) on Jan. 14, 2011 for the Tribe’s proposed construction of a casino resort project near Friant in Fresno County, California. The document is now available for public viewing and comment.
The DEIS outlines the environmental impacts and mitigation measures associated with implementation of the proposed project and project alternatives. If constructed, the facility would include a gaming floor, restaurant and lounge facilities, an entertainment hall, a hotel and conference center, a multi-level parking garage, among other features.
The public will be able to comment on the DEIS from Jan. 14, 2011 through close of business on April 12, 2011, an extension from its original date of March 28, 2011.
